Derbyshire County Finals Thriller!
Derbyshire Year 6 Mixed Final took place at
the Derby County Ground on Friday, venue for this year's National
Final, and was witness to a thrilling finale to the county
tournament. Simmondley (Glossop) beat Old Hall
(Chesterfield) in a tie. Both scored 249 but
Simmondley lost less wickets! What a game!
For the Dorset Year 6 mixed Final also on Friday we have a full
match report:
The Districts sent 2 representatives each to the county final at
Bryanston School. They had won and come second in their local
District festivals.
The morning competition had 3 leagues of 4, producing some very
exciting games eg Christchurch beat St Michael’s Primary by just
1 run. One of the groups had a 3 way tie for 2nd place which had
to be decided on total run count – Epiphany Primary edged through
by just 1 run from Sandford Middle after 3 matches played.
After tee shirts were presented by the ASDA representatives and a
big thank you was made by DSCA Chairman and organiser, to ASDA at
the lunch break, the sides winning their group played each other
and so on down the line (2nds, 3rds and 4ths). This ended up with
places from 1 to 12 and again produced some exhilarating cricket
and a huge amount of excitement in the sun.
Recently retired Chairman of Dorset Cricket Board, Clive Moore,
presented the silver medals to St Aldhelm’s Primary (Poole) and
gold medals and trophy to St Michael’s Middle School from
Colehill (East).
He also thanked me effusively – but that is not in the
report.
Photos sent are of a bit of action, Tammy and Dennis form ASDA,
post presentation of tee shirts, St Aldhelm’s batting v St
Michael’s and the winning team (on the steps) and runners
up.
