Wollescote Primary School - their road to the Final!
By The Asda Kwik Cricket team
Wollescote Primary School have been coached under the watchful eye
of Tim Derrer and have been very impressive in all of their
matches. Now they are in the Asda Kwik Cricket National
Final!
The team consists of: Ovais Qamar, Andrew Cartwright, Awais Nusrat, Shoaib Iqbal, Taimur Mahmood, Mustafa Ali, Mohammed Husnain, Mateen Ali, Husnain Mohammed and Omar Mahmood.

The highlight of their tournament has to be when Wollescote had scored 212 in the Regionals and their opposition needed to score only 5 runs from the last 2 overs to win! However, the team then successfully took 6 wickets in 7 balls to win the match by 17 runs. What a performance!
One time, their coach, Tim, managed to break a chair and fall on the ground in the process of trying to catch a ball that had gone for 6! Luckily he caught the ball, obviously to show his team that they have a quality coach on board!
Well done so far Wollescote - and relish the big moment to come!

- Sam Roberts
Sam is one of the tallest in the team at 5' foot. He is formidable at the crease, commonly hitting numerous sixes in an over!
- Joe Walker
Joe's bowling performances this season have proved invaluable. He is also known for his near to impossible diving catches which have turned many a game around!

- Dan Smith
Dan will always be remembered for keeping cool and making that crucial single in one of the group matches to carry the team through to the next round. He is also a very decent fielder!
-Ben Steward
Ben seems to have just got better and better throughout the tournament! His bowling is devastating to the opposition and he isn't shy about hitting the ball about the ground either!

-George Dixon
Whether its bat or ball, George is someone who the team can greatly rely on. He will fight to the very end, and is going for his Gold award this summer.
-Lewis Neal
Sport is Lewis' life! He loves every moment of it and has always made an excellent performance when it counts. He is very athletic on the pitch, and definitely the nosiest of all the boys!

Reginald Mitchell Girls Cricket Team!
By The Asda Kwik Cricket team
The Reginald Mitchell school hadn't played cricket before the
Asda Kwik Cricket Tournament, so to reach the National Final as
they have done is a monumental achievement!
The team consists of Rebecca Stanyer, Millie Wilson, Anna Cornes, Savannah Miller, Joedie Meadowcroft, Loren Rigby, Katie Reece, Keeley Quinn and Kimberley Holloway.

The girls have done so well so far, winning 15 of their 16 matches! Rebecca Stanyer deserves a special mention because in one of her two overs. she hit a huge 7 sixes and 2 fours!!!
Katie Reece took an amazing catch as well, taking the ball as she tripped on a different ball from another pitch at the same time! And Anna Cornes superstitiously bowls from her school cap as she thinks it brings her good luck!
Well, from what we have heard, Reginald Mitchell Girls team sound like a very talented team and a school to look out for as the finals loom!

James Oglethorpe Primary School's Road to the Final!
By The Asda Kwik Cricket team
James
Oglethorpe Primary School have had an epic run up to the Asda
Kwik Cricket Girls National Final! The girls have had a
fantastic time and loved playing the game.

The team, consisting of Annie Maguire, Phoebe Menear, Charlotte Welch, Caitlin Hewson, Alice Martin, Nicole Boran, Rhiannan Goulden and Ellie Brewster are under the watchful eye of their coach Mark Menear, and they have been training hard towards the final.
They were even lucky enough to have Nick Knight, former professional Cricketer and England's opening batsman to train them on July 7th. The girls learnt an extraordinary large amount and had a fabulous time!

A particular mention should go to the girls' 2nd group match where they were left to bat out the remaining runs. The match went down to the very last ball, until Phoebe Menear, partnered with Annie Maguire, smashed the ball for 4 to win the match!
In the regional finals the girls won convincing matches in which they won most of them by at least 40 runs! What great batting!
In the final of the Regionals they played Wheatfields Primary and pushed out a narrow victory - winnning by 15 runs.

Good luck next week in the National Finals girls!!!

Ian Harvey Gives Blackpool CofE Final Tips Before the Big Day!
By The Asda Kwik Cricket team
On July 6th, the well-know Australian all rounder, Ian Harvey,
visited Blackpool CofE for a unique coaching experience before the
Asda Kwik Cricket National Final takes place on July 14th.

Asda are offering the "Asda Road to the Final" coaching session for the winners of the regional finals to prepare them for the national final next week!
Ian Harvey excelled in all aspects of the game, and had a knack for making things happen at the right moments of a match. He also happens to be current Sky Sports Commentator, so the children were definitely lucky to have such an knowledgeable and experienced player for themselves!

He directly coached the boys and gave them some final pointers which should very much help them, with the tournament being only days away!
Good luck Blackpool, and a big thank you to Ian!
